British Empire Silk Lampshades – Red Heavy Pongee Silk

The British Silk Empire Lampshade has the same straight sides as thetraditional Silk Empire lampshade, but has a larger opening at the top of the shade, and a shorter profile than its same sized Silk Empire counterpart. The British Silk Empire lampshade offers a modern twist to the traditional Silk Empire style. With the larger opening at the top of the lampshade – as compared to the traditional Silk Empire, the British Silk Empire “bridges the gap” between the traditional Silk Empire (top diameter is 1/2 of the bottom diameter) and the traditional Silk Drum style (top and bottom diameters are roughly the same) lampshade; the opening at the top of the British Silk Empire is about 3/4 of the diameter at the bottom of the lampshade.The British Silk Empire lampshade offers a clean and contemporary look, and is a useful lampshade style for lamps with larger and shorter bases. The British Silk Empire lampshade is also a fabulous shade for swing arm floor lamps – wide opening at the bottom to maximize task lighting, but not overly tall so as not to overwhelm the design of the swing arm floor lamp.
