The Classic Silk Bell lampshade is one of the original lampshade styles. The Classic Silk Bell lampshade design, like the Silk Empire style lampshade, is one of the workhorses of all of the Silk lampshade styles. The Classic Silk Bell lampshade is one in which the top of the lampshade is relatively small, and then flares or fans out to the bottom of the lampshade. The diameter of the Classic Silk Bell lampshade is slightly larger than ½ of the diameter of the bottom of the lampshade. All Silk Bell lampshades are made on a “frame” which consists of a set of inter-connected wires. The round top ring is attached to the round bottom ring by a series of vertical wires – which define the shade or style of the lampshade. In the case of the “Silk Bell” lampshades, the vertical wires that connect the top and bottom rings of the lampshade are curved, whereas, for a Silk Empire lampshade, the top and bottom rings are connected by a series of straight vertical wires. Although often considered an “old” style, nevertheless, the Classic Silk Bell lampshade continues to be used today on a wide variety of portable lamps including table, accent, buffet and floor lamps.
