The Deep Drum Silk lampshade is a variation of the classic Silk Drum lampshade. Like the Silk Drum lampshade, the Deep Drum Silk lampshade appears to have equally sized openings at the top and the bottom of the shade. However, the diameter of the opening at the top of the Deep Drum Silk lampshade is an inch smaller than the diameter of the lampshade at the bottom; reason being that when we make a “True Drum” lampshade, meaning the top and bottom ring diameters are the same, the top of the lampshade actually looks larger than the bottom of the lampshade. The Deep Drum Silk lampshade style is a classic, and was a popular style used in the 1950s and 60s. The Deep Drum Silk lampshade is an inch to 3″ longer as compared to the same sized standard Silk Drum lampshade. We continue to use the Deep Drum Silk lampshade to complement a variety of traditional style lamps including lamps with a tall, thin profile such as the traditional candlestick lamps or lamp bases such as an antique wall-paper roller!
