But, for over 40 years, we have maintained a reputation as one of the leading repair and restoration shops in the business. We’ve done this by investing in artisans and craftspeople who love bringing our customer’s favorite treasures back to life.
Our Service Manager, Mykola Vereshchaka, exemplifies this and so much more. Despite joining us just nine months ago, he has already become an inspirational leader for our team.
A Career Interrupted
Mykola is originally from Ukraine, but he and his family were forced to leave after Russia invaded their country in 2022. Before the invasion, Mykola built a remarkable life in the maritime industry. After graduating from the Maritime Academy of Ukraine, he rose to the rank of Captain in the Ukrainian Navy.
He trained as an electrician and carpenter and worked on electrical installations in large, ocean-going vessels (oh, and he has a law degree, too). He later managed the busy seaport of Odessa and, at the time of the invasion, worked as the Head of State Enterprise of Waterways for Ukraine.
However, once Russia attacked, he and his family had to flee their home country and immigrate to the US. They settled in Massachusetts, and Mykola prepared to embark on a new voyage in his long career.
A New American Home
We were ecstatic to welcome Mykola on board at Concord Lamp and Shade. His deep electrical knowledge and can-do attitude made him an immediate star. His pride in a job well done is infectious, and his cheerful demeanor makes working with him a delight. He loves taking on challenges, and we love throwing them to him.
Whether it’s rehabbing broken fixtures, converting European wiring to American, fixing worn out sockets, or even creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces out of found objects like sewing machines or railroad ties, our service team is ready to tackle any project. We don’t believe in today’s “throwaway” mentality, and we are proud of the work Mykola and our staff do to ensure our customers’ favorite lamps always shine bright. We are lucky to have him on our team.
