Our country may have its founding fathers, but at Concord Lamp and Shade we have a founding lady… red lady that is. This lovely woman seen below is the inpiration for our brand, reflected in our logo and always standing outside our shop, grabbing people’s attention and prompting them to enter our store.
I personally love the story about how “she” was discovered. Concord Lamp & Shade started as a business in 1976, but I bought the store 28 years later in 2004. Several months after becoming the proprietor, one of my friends gave me a call at the store and said I found something for you that you “have to have”. She started to explain what it was, but because I had a customer in the store at the time, I wasn’t able to hear the whole story…I just said “ok”. You can imagine my surprise when, an hour later she drove up in front of the store, ran around to the back of her station wagon and started gently pulling this looooong red lady floor lamp out of the back! It kept coming and coming, and my jaw kept dropping and dropping!!! We set her up in the alcove at the front door of the store, and she has been there ever since. She was, and is, absolutely fabulous, and standing at our door, greets every customer that walks into the store! She is the subject of daily picture-taking, and, as you know, has become the icon for the store.
Unfortunately the red lady floor lamp is not for sale, but she has been the inspiration for a greater collection of floor lamps in our store. Below are five other floor lamps that will bring a dose of sophistication to your interior space.
1. Ralph Lauren Architect Lamp
2. Visual Comfort Suzanne Kasler Large Quatrefoil
3. Currey and Company Poston Floor Lamp
4. The Murray Feiss Anora Lamp
