One of the best parts of my job is creating custom lamps and lampshades that illustrate a special moment in someone’s life or even a personal journey. Many of these types of requests have come through our doors. For example, there was a young man who wanted to create a lamp for his girlfriend from a favorite bottle of artisan beer they shared while vacationing in Rome, and there was also a woman who wanted to create a lamp out of an antique golf club bag for her husband.
Most recently, a lovely couple came in who wanted to create a custom shade featuring metropolitan maps of the four cities with personal meaning for them:
–Â Â San Francisco – Where they met
–Â Â London – Where they lived together
–Â Â New York – Where they raised their kids
–Â Â Boston – Where they currently call home
We have been making Nautical Shades for some time now, so why couldn’t we create metropolitan-inspired lampshades? It was a no-brainer – what a fun project to take on!
The lampshade turned out lovely, and the couple was thrilled. Now they will be able to happily recall their memories from each city sitting every time they switch on the light in their living room. What an amazing gift to be able to give to a customer!
