I had the opportunity to visit the Hubbardton Forge headquarters and manufacturing facility in Castleton, Vermont last week. Geoff Lull, our Service Manager and I went to the plant to pick up over a dozen Hubbardton Forge lamps we later installed in a newly completed 1790s renovation in Guilford, Vermont.
While at the plant, we were treated to a wonderful tour. We met with the chief design engineer, saw the actual “forging” of the iron, learned about the multiple steps to applying and or creating the various finishes, witnessed the quality control group reviewing the product at various stages of production and watched the final assembly of several products. It was fascinating!
One of the products we saw in various stages of production was the New Town Chandelier – a beautiful combination of new and old.
Last year Hubbardton Forge introduced the Mobius floor lamp – it is wonderful – height adjustable with a spun frost shade.
We learned how the new Corona pendant, with all of its individually curved pieces of wrought iron was conceived and built and how the process is controlled to ensure that each manufactured piece is duplicated!
Historically, Hubbardton Forge has had a fairly limited line of outdoor lighting…but things are changing with the introduction of the Ethos outdoor sconces. They speak to the Hubbardton Forge tradition of simple and elegant.
Whether table, floor, ceiling or wall fixtures, the Hubbardton Forge quality and elegance lives on.
