When a customer goes to purchase a lamp at our store, they’re greeted with a selection of finials. A HUGE selection I might add. There are so many different shapes and themes of finials…I could go on for days! A lamp finial is important as it finishes off your new lamp and can add a pop of color or texture that connects a room together. One of our favorite finial designers is Hillary Thomas. Each piece is handcrafted and a brilliant piece of lamp art! We’re especially loving the stone and gem finials.
With summer on the horizon, many folks are starting to reinvigorate their summer homes. These shell lamp finals are perfect for those beach cottages!

Finding the right lampshade for a lamp is like finding the right blouse for a pair of pants. You need to keep in mind color, cut and style to form the perfect ensemble. And with any outfit, the jewelry is the “finishing touch”. I consider finials the jewelry of a lamp’s outfit. And, as with a clothing ensemble, it is the final detail that can adds the brilliant accent – and conversation point! – to any lamp.
When it comes to finials, you are really only limited by your imagination. There are an infinite number of designs, styles and colors that are simply wonderful. For example, whenever I’m putting together a custom nautical lamp, I look through our ocean-inspired finial collection. Isn’t this shell such a fabulous finial?
Of course for our Red Sox Lamp we have this custom-designed baseball finial.
There are also some wonderful contemporary finial designers like Hillary Thomas who have created chic finials for modern lamps and interiors.
Next time you’re shopping around for a lamp, you have a world of finials at your fingertips. And even if you’re not looking for a new lamp, you can always spice up your existing lamp with a new accent. After all, every lamp (and lady!) can use new jewelry every now and then.
